Star Wars Outlaws World Will Be Expansive – Get Your Speeder Ready
Star Wars Outlaws, the first truly open-world Star Wars game, is set on the moon Toshara. Traveling across this moon’s entire surface will take about four to five minutes by Speeder, according to Massive Entertainment’s creative director Julian Gerighty.
In an interview with IGN, Gerighty provided some insights into the game’s scope. He compared the size of Toshara to “two or three” zones from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, emphasizing that although four or five minutes might not seem extensive, it offers a substantial area filled with engaging content and distractions.
Gerighty highlighted the focus on a “living world system” that keeps the gameplay dynamic and immersive, a concept that proved successful in Massive Entertainment’s previous titles, The Division and The Division 2. The game’s director, Mathias Karlson, echoed this sentiment, underscoring that this system will be key in making Star Wars Outlaws engaging, especially over long distances.
Gerighty also talked about the game’s approach to avoiding the common pitfalls of open-world games, such as unnecessary bloat. He emphasized that the design prioritizes variety and engagement over sheer size. “We don’t want things to be just big for big’s sake. We need it to be contained, always fun, always proposing different activities,” he said.
In terms of emergent gameplay, players can expect dynamic events every two to three minutes. These events might include ambushes, Imperial arrests, or skirmishes with criminal syndicates, offering players the choice to engage or bypass these occurrences.
If Massive Entertainment delivers on these promises, Star Wars Outlaws could become the scoundrel story fans have been waiting for. The game is set to release on August 30, so players won’t have to wait long to explore this expansive and engaging world for themselves.
