Star Wars Outlaws Lead Welcomes Red Dead 2 Comparisons
In the wake of the Xbox Games Showcase, Star Wars Outlaws emerged as Ubisoft’s latest venture into the Star Wars universe. Following its highlight at Ubisoft Forward 2023, creative director Julian Gerighty shared his views on the game’s early comparisons to Red Dead Redemption 2.
Gerighty expressed his admiration for Rockstar’s acclaimed title, “Rockstar makes the best games in the world, right? I’m honored by the comparison… I have immense respect for those games.”
The similarities aren’t lost on observers, with Star Wars Outlaws featuring a detailed reputation system pivotal to the game’s dynamics, reminiscent of the frontier saga set in space.
Gerighty elaborates on the importance of the reputation mechanic, noting that it enables players to shape their unique alliances and rivalries within the galaxy’s underworld, influencing interactions with various factions.
Separately, fans have unexpectedly taken a liking to ND-5, the droid with a distinctive trench coat. Gerighty appreciates this fan affection, marveling at the unpredictability of player responses: “It’s fantastic. That’s the magic of creating for a dedicated fan base; you’re met with surprises at every turn.”
