Star Wars Outlaws: Lead Amused by Droid Crushes
The lead designer of Star Wars Outlaws expressed surprise at the game’s droid becoming an unexpected fan crush.
In a post-showcase interview with GamesRadar+, Julian Gerighty, the creative director for Star Wars Outlaws, reflected on the surprising fan infatuation with ND-5, the game’s dapper, trench coat-clad commando droid. Despite the buzz on social media, Gerighty admitted that the character’s appeal as a “hot” droid was something the team hadn’t considered.
His response to the fan reactions was overwhelmingly positive, expressing amazement and appreciation for the passionate community’s unique perspectives. “We knew he had charisma,” Gerighty remarked, “but ‘hotness’ wasn’t on the radar when designing him.”
Beyond the allure of a “hot droid,” Star Wars Outlaws offers more for fans to get excited about, including another companion named Nix, an endearing creature voiced by a renowned Star Wars voice actor, complete with top-notch motion capture. And there’s speculation about a potential hidden iconic hero as well. With such elements, the anticipation for 2024 and the release of Star Wars Outlaws is palpable.
