Aila Bren The Slicer (Tosharan) Expert
The Slicer is unlocked as part of the story after Kay completes the main mission called “New Tricks.” Once you’ve wrapped up this mission, Danka informs Kay about some of her contacts who can help upgrade her gear, including the Slicer Kit.
To unlock the Slicer as an Expert, you’ll need to visit Makal’s Gambling Parlor in Mirogana. There, you’ll eavesdrop on a conversation at the bar, which will set off a series of objectives leading to the acquisition of the Slicer’s skills.
The Slicer’s abilities include:
- Slicing Kit: An advanced hacking device.
- Sneak Shot: Increases damage from stealth shots with the blaster.
- Concussive Smoke: An upgraded smoke bomb that stuns enemies within its radius.
- Sneaky Trap: Unlocks Nix’s ability to disable Alarm Panels with traps.
- Lightfooted: Reduces the detection distance when Kay is walking or sprinting.
- Slice Kit Upgrade: Enhances the Slicing Kit’s energy and adds Joker features.
These abilities significantly boost Kay’s stealth and hacking capabilities, making her a more versatile and dangerous outlaw in the galaxy.

Automatically unlocked when you recruit The Slicer Expert.
Sneak Shot
To unlock Sneak Shot, you need to complete an Infiltration Contract and take down distracted enemies. This involves using Nix to distract an enemy, then finishing them off with your blaster while they’re distracted. Infiltration Contracts become available after completing the main story mission “Sabotage.” Danka will notify you when these new contracts are open.
Concussive Smoke
First, unlock the Smoke Bomb ability from Expert Selo Rovak. Then, follow the Ion Capacitator Charge Key Intel objective to locate the required item. The Accu-Accelerator can be purchased from the Scavenger shop in Bestine, run by Otip Ashtep.
Sneak Trap
Command Nix to perform 7 different actions, and successfully complete a Slice within 3 attempts or fewer. With the right subroutines, completing the Slice should be straightforward, so keep exploring and utilizing the Slicer until you achieve this.
Lightfooted
Complete a Smuggler Contract, which becomes available after the Sabotage mission in the story. You can then speak with representatives of various factions to take on new missions. Smuggler Contracts typically require you to retrieve an item from a pickup location and deliver it to a drop-off point without using fast travel.
Additionally, you must perform a Takedown on an Imperial Officer and pick 3 different locks. Imperial Officers, easily identifiable by their dark gray suits, can commonly be found in the Empire stronghold in the region.
Slice Kit Upgrade
Gather a Code Breaker Chip, 8 Chalcopyrite, and 3 Direct-Energy Circuits. The Code Breaker Chip can be found at the Shipjacker Workshop. Once you unlock The Slicer, this task will become an Intel Quest. Check your journal for the objectives and follow them to secure the upgrade.
